Ultimate objectives of PAD

       a. PAD wants to get rid of corruptions. Thaksin, the billionaire civilian dictator, has left Thailand with extensive high level of corruptions and proxy politicians. Having cheated the country while in power, Thaksin hid his corrupt billion of dollars worth of assets overseas. When ousted, Thaksin is subjected to numerous convictions but cowardly fled jail overseas and pull strings on politicians to sabotage his homeland.

       b. PAD protects the Monarchy. Thaksin wants to launder himself through amending the laws with his proxy politicians, while trying to abolish the Monoarchy and make himself a President, that is to cause turmoils and change Thailand from being a "Kingdom" to a "Republic" in stead.

       c. As a permanent cure for Thailand, PAD wants to get real democracy for Thailand. At present it is a fake democracy with bad on-sale politicians.

       d. To achieve all above a, b, c we have to get rid of Thaksin and his proxy politicians and punish them according to the laws.

    The First Mass Rally

    ( Last edit 2008-12-24 )

A media mogul and anti-government protest leader Sondhi Limthongkul has exposed corruptions and hidden facts through ASTV and Manager Media Group since the beginning of 2006 at the peak of Thaksin's regime.

Thus, he educates Thai people all over the country to rise up against Thaksin Regime, demanding true democracy. Hundred of thousands of people have joined Sondhi and formed themselves as People's Alliance for Democracy or PAD.

PAD are peaceful demonstrators who protest against tyrant governments of civillian dictator Thaksin Shinawatra. PAD 's protest is organized wholy on people's donations to run its activities against corrupt governments of weathy billionaire Thaksin and his cronies. Pipop Thongchai, an NGO leader in children's rights; Somsak Kosaisuk, a railway unionist leader; Somkiat Pongpaiboon, a university ex-lecturer politician, all joined Sondhi's movement and become core leaders.

PAD movement was instrumental in setting the stage for former premier Thaksin Shinawatra and rallied mostly on weekly or evening rallies on Rajdamnoen road and King Rama V Royal Plaza near the House of Parliament in the middle two quarters of 2006. More Thais were awakened by PAD's rally. Thaksin and his Thai Rak Thai party were too confident and ignorant because of the government authority and the historical parliamentary majority in their hands but the criticisms became louder and louder.

Military eventually staged a peaceful coup and ousted Thaksin on September 19, 2006 when PAD simultaneously and temporarily ceased the street protest and became watchful guards for nearly two years while Thaksin fled to UK. The Military junta was too soft and did not finish off Thaksin regime leaving Thaksin's network readily resurrected right after the general election in December 2008.

PAD reconstituted in May 2008, after four months of Thaksin's proxy government led by Samak Sundaravej had proved an absolute loyalty to the billionaire Thaksin by relentless attempts to amend the constitution to white wash Thaksin and his cronies.
