The Pirate Thaksin's Treasures on Cayman Islands
( Last edit 2009-04-14 )
On April 3, 2009, Gen.Pijit Kullawanich, a Privy Councilor and a heroic life-long professional soldier (as opposed to commercialized or politicized soldiers), a retired Army Chief who was mentioned on the UDD/DAAD/Red shirt rally stage gave a press interview regarding the political conflicts arising from Thaksin. Gen.Pijit raised a question why the former Prime Minister had already been sentenced to jail but still does not submit himself to the sentence. On what rights does Thaksin claim? How come Thaksin improperly mentioned the high establishment? Why has nobody pursued this matter? Why has nobody checked out and reported to the public, the rumours about a large amount of money being deposited into an island welknown for money laundering?
Gen.Pijit confirms that at present the Privy Councilors do not differ in their opinions as some scholars said. Every Tuesday, the councilors hold a regular meeting which is presided by Gen. Prem Tinnasulanond the President of the Privy Council and a stateman. Gen.Pijit also confirms that there is no connection to the politics as some (Thaksin/ UDD/DAAD/Red shirt) claim.
On the same day, Gen.Pijit went to preside a charity event for poor students in Petchaboon and gave another press interview about the solving the current national crisis. He said that he was a professional soldier who defends the country, the religions and the Monarchy. Since the colonialism era, the country has survived because all the Kings have had the profound wisdom. The current political situation is a result of intense material development and lacking of human development. We should have developed humans.
When asked, as a Privy Councilor, how would his anxiety toward the situation of the country be? Gen.Pijit said, "We have to build up people from babies without being too materialistic. Nowadays, youths do not know the Emerald Buddha Image. In the future, it will be like Pra Vihar Temple which nobody takes it seriously when somebody has taken it because they lack the knowledge of its importance."
Gen.Pijit added, "The behaviours and the words of Thaksin who once presided a ceremony of the country within the temple of the Emerald Buddha Image while he was the Prime Minister then, are lese majesty and violation of the Royal Authority. Moreover, the mention in a speech involving His Majesty the King is very much inappropriate which the government and the related authorities must act as soon as possible."
"Personally, I do not have any suggestion to Thaksin. Instead, I would like the people to carefully consider this message. I may not suggest anything to Thaksin because I am a Privy Councilor. How did Thaksin violate the Royal Authority? Can anybody hold a ceremony in the temple of the Emerald Buddha Image? We, Thais, may pay respect to the Emerald Buddha Image but we may not hold a ceremony in the temple of the Emerald Buddha Image because it is not appropriate. Even after ousted from the PM post, Thaksin phoned to a supporting rally that if HM the King just telephones whispering to call him back, then he would come back. I doubt whether he sees the King as a buddy of him.
To the question of the reporter whether Thaksin's acts are not mindful of his own place, Gen.Pijit replied, "Yes. Why does nobody take it seriously? The acts of Thaksin are considered lese majesty. How come he, an ex-Prime Minister, managed to do such things?"
"There are also other matters. Don't you, reporter, know about Cayman Islands? When H.E. Mr.Ralph L. Boyce, Jr., an ex-Ambassador of USA to Thailand, visited me, his first sentence was a question what affairs Thai Prime Minister (Thaksin) had to do on Cayman Islands. Though I knew something, I asked back what the islands are for. Mr.Ralph said that it was a money laundering place. There were also other country's Prime Ministers (laundering the money on the islands). An Italian Prime Minister who had secretly owned a casino had to resign when exposed."
"If Mr.Ralph knew, why lots of American and Thais would not know. Please, media, check out what Cayman Islands are all about. Why did Thaksin have to deposit the money there? How come after working for only 5-6 years, one can make a hundred billion baht?"
To the question whether government offices are too slack to pursue this matter, Gen Pijit replied,"You have the answer." To the question what the government should do, Gen Pijit replied,"The matters must be exposed to the public. What are all the facts behind it? Are the acts actually lese majesty saying the King to whisper near his ear?"
To the question whether Thaksin's campaign aiming at overthrowing the Monarchy, Gen Pijit replied,"Of course. Why haven't officers responsible done anything? The reactions of the government have been too slow. How come one can talk about the King whispering near his ear like a buddy?"
To the question how worry His Majesty the King is to the country's situation, Gen Pijit replied,"It is about bringing up people. People must be brought up patriotic."
Gen Pijit added,"Wise people have to think over. How can we believe him? I have been a soldier all my life. No matter where the battles were, I went. So many funerals I attended. I have come to terms with the fact that human beings are so little. Only birth, aging, ailing and death are real. We all have to leave our bodies, a Baht coin, our bones behind. One cannot take those with them when one dies. Why so greedy?"
To the question whether or not the current turmoils are caused only by Thaksin, Gen Pijit replied, "I do not want to say but the media can find out by themselves."
To the question whether or not the 18 voices of Privy Councilors would be louder than the voices of the red-shirt people, Gen Pijit replied, "We have to press on the officers in charge to do their jobs and to say whether or not Thaksin has committed lese majesty."
After the above interview, Thaksin's lawyers sued Gen.Pijit for a libel charge.
On April 6, 2009, Gen.Pijit Kullawanich, a Privy Councilor gave another interview saying that he was not worrying about Thaksin's legal action because he was confident in what he said. Gen.Pijit added,"Additionally, the acts of lese majesty and money laundering on Cayman Islands are all factual. Particularly the money laundering, I will invite the ex-Ambassador of USA to Thailand, Mr.Ralph Boyce who informed me about it, to expose all the detail. Some of the money deposited on Cayman Islands have been used for political movements in Thailand."
