Puppet Yingluck's Reign
PAD's Ultimatum Against Laundering
( Last edit 2012-07-25 )
July 24, 2012 at Pra Arthit House, Mr.Sondhi Limthongkul, Major General Chamlong Sri-muang, Mr.Pipop Thongchai, Mr.Somkiat Pongpaibool, and Mr.Panthep Puapongpan, core leaders of PAD gave a press release about a protest against the legislation of the National Reconciliation Act.
Mr.Sondhi said, "Dear media and audiences, the public have realized that basically PAD stands on two objectives to rally: first, if the government do anything showing intention or defaming or abolishing the Royal institute; second, if there is a laundering legislation.
Why these two. First, it is because we have to defend the Royal institute whose presence is necessary for Thai society. As for laundering legislation, it is a destruction of legal state principle which is unacceptable. If the government is going for a national referendum to amend the constitution which includes a laundering legislation, that will be possible because I respect the majority votes but not parliamentary votes to launder guilt for any convicted persons. Such exploiting parliamentary vote means that whoever commits crimes but holds the power to control the parliamentary vote, can launder the guilt. This cannot be accepted."
Mr.Sondhi continued, "Our rally will be similar as before. If the agenda remains and not withdrawn, we shall rally immediately. Whether or not, it is a lengthy rally or camp-out would depend on the government attitude. I think PAD does not accept Miss PM Yingluck Shiawatra's words that the matter belongs to the parliament. It is a lie or half truth because of the majority in the house belongs to Pua Thai party and the coalition parties. Therefore, if Miss Yingluck agrees to withdraw the law, she should tell Pua Thai party and the coalition parties. When they are informed, they should have no objection either. Therefore, please do not repeatedly use the same old quotes to pass the buck that the matter belongs to the parliament and not to the government because it is a lie.
PAD confirms that if not withdrawn, PAD shall rally throughout the country and we shall do everything to make the reconciliation act withdrawn. What we are doing is to establish the national unity, not divisiveness, in contrast to the reconciliation act which would create divisiveness in the society. The country has the rule of law. Thus, we have to let the law rule.
I wish mass media would spend time analyzing to perceive the actually huge disaster threatening the country. For whatever we have fought, PAD is not based on personal conflicts even for a little. Major General Chamlong Sri-muang is nearly 80. Me 65. Brother Pipop is nearly 70. Mr.Somkiat is 60. We are currently struggling for the public and the next generation to have a space to stand in the future. At least you have brothers and sisters, and possibly a family in the future. Would you like your children to grow up in the society which money is God and can buy MPs to launder guilt? We fight in Pra Viharn matters not for land for ourselves but because we think that the land is Thai territory. The military does not fight. Politicians conspire with Cambodia to deliver the land to Cambodia. We cannot accept that. We fight so that our ancestors would be proud of their descendants who do not give up, and that our descendants would be proud of their parents
Also, the land at Pra Viharn relates to the huge national interests in the sea which is petroleum. Therefore, for my fellow mass media, no matter you like us or not, please be sensible for whatever we have fought, we have not fought for ourselves. As for the principle of legal state, we totally comply. Without probation, I get a jail 85-year jail sentence, reduced to 20 years from violation of the Security Act by submitting a company into guarantee but I do not complain a word. Likewise, last week, the court sentenced a 117-year imprisonment for cheating a bankbut allowed a probation instead which I do not complain a word because I respect the principle of legal state.
On July 27, at 11:00 PAD will give another press release for a very big story. Please come again and you will see what you will have more to think about for a very long time.
Major General Chamlong said, "Although PAD also benefits from the law, PAD fully opposes the draft law. We definitely do not agree. All drafts of the law are the same that is felons receive impunity, no matter murderers or corruptors. They cannot be allowed. If they are pushed into the parliament, we shall immediately rally. This law is intended to destroy the country and the throne by using parliamentary vote to launder guilt. I see that constitution amendment is more difficult than passing this law. I confirm that PAD is not premature."
